Does anyone else see that the REALLY long HB 2730 that everyone knew was going to take FOREVER to read was sponsored by Rep Kolkhorts.... the very same rep that held our bill up?

My dear Watson, we have a conumdrum.........

I did notice that, but as much as I would like to I can't really make anything of it. I don't think she had anything to do with the number of amendments.
Personally I think the reps owe it to texas to make it legal to sell cakes from homes but that is just me icon_lol.gif (those who aren't watching the feed, Kolkhorst just said they owed it to texas to do something)
I hate those dumb "amendment to amendment" they sound like tongue twisters. lol

I'm back, 5 pounds lighter thanks to a hair cut! I see we got really far, to page 5 of 24 and if the goal is 22, they better shut somebody up! laughing.

Okay, I still believe in miracles. This bill has jumped hurdles we weren't thinking it was going to. We have had a month of miracles in my house and I'm not giving up yet. It aint over til the fat lady sings and hone, I haven't even warmed up yet! lol - So just hang in there you guys. They are going to be in session for a while longer today - well minus the dinner break, but they are coming back and they are going to get on down the pages. As long as they get to us before midnight tomorrow night, we are good to go.

And Kelley M - I remember something about a dream and then a baby girl was born. icon_rolleyes.gif

All good things come to those who wait, and ladies we've gotten good at playing the waiting game.

I just got home and turned on the broadcast. icon_mad.gif

Okay, if a bill has this many amendments wouldn't you think that the bill wasn't well written to begin with and needs to be withdrawn to be written better? Think about it, someone comes up later to say but the law is..... according to amendment 60 which states......which amends amendment 42 which amends 30 which amends 18 which amends...... Give me a break! I don't care if the bill is for the good of Texas or not (which I don't even know what this bill is about yet), if a bill needs this many amendments then it needs to be withdrawn and rewritten for next session!

Can you imagine what will be written in the books for this bill if it does pass? And with the number of amendments you have to wonder if it will even pass after the 3rd reading. It sounds as though many don't like the way it is written. SHEESH!!!! Talk about wasting time and killing lots of other bills that are for the good!

At recess now until 7 while they figure out the "point of order". ??? This is taking forever! What is with all the lulls between bills and within the discussion of bills? The speaker yesterday morning did not allow for all the lulls, or at least it seemed like he didn't. He also kept Reps to a minimum when wanting to talk about bills. This speaker seems to let the Reps go on and on and on.

This is just a thought, but can the Speaker of the House do anything to assist us? I'm guessing the calendar is created for a reason and is to be stuck to, but I'm just curious if the Speaker can pull a bill out and move it along.

I think I want to be a rep. Do they ever get anything done!

Thank you Kelly, you did amazing getting this together! It has not been an easy journey and it is not over yet! You did not give up when they took their time getting it out of committee and pushed and pushed. This is not the time to call it quits. No white flags tonight!

icon_cry.gif There are 192 bills before ours and at the rate they are going, even though I would like to keep a positive attitude, don't see how they will ever get through them all in time.
