Can anyone tell me what to use to make the face guard on the football helmet stay curved and in place?

Thanks for all the help!

I used wire hangers cut into pieces with pliers and shaped how I needed. Then I threaded each piece through a fondant 'tube'.

contact ladyonZlake. She will send you perfect instructions on how to make her football helmet cake. They are very clear directions and easy as anything. She does the Seattle Seahawk helmet in the galleries.

I actually used brake line for mine. It was easy to bend and held very well. I left a little of the wire sticking out of the end of the mask and just inserted that into the cake.

I havent made one but I would imagine you could make it out of gumpaste and then put it around a bowl or something to dry in the bent shape.

The Dec 2006 ACD magazine has an article on this. I can email you the info if you like. I am hoping to try and make it. Basically you make two gumpaste pieces. One must be supported so that the ends curve upward. Both are basically "U" shaped.
