I have seen several caramel filling/frosting recipes on here that sound great-I love caramel -but they don't mention what flavor cake to put with them-any suggestions?

Mmmm, chocolate, actually making one tomorrow with the caramel sauce. Any leftover caramel goes on pumpkin pancakes so yeah, I'd definitely put it on a pumpkin cake!!
