What is the easiest way to apply ribbon to the edge of a cake drum?
Royal? Tape?

very small dabbs of royal placed all around drum then ribbon applied to drum? Seems like this would keep from slipage <if that is a word> and from having to reposition it.

Double sided tape works very well, and won't show. In a pinch, you can use elmers glue.

Could someone tell me the best/easiest way to attach ribbon to a buttercream iced cake as a bottom border. Also, what type of ribbon works best?

Thanks!

So glad that question was asked. If red ribbon is used, will it bleed on the cake if the icing is buttercream?

I don't like using icing on ribbon round cake drums now, as sometimes it starts to show a stain through the ribbon.
I use a coloured ball headed pin (like dressmakers use) the same colour as the ribbon and push a couple into the sides of the cake board. It holds the ribbon in place and doesn't show and doesn't affect the cake as its only in the boards and it can look quite decorative also! icon_smile.gif
