I am going to be making a 2 tier cake for my daughter and need to know how to get my layers deep enough. I have an 8: and a 6" round. the directions say to use 2/3 a cake mix for the 8", but it came out too thin.

Any thoughts? And are 8 and 6" pans a good size???

Thanks in advance for any help!

8" and 6" layers will make a small cake either stacked or on pillars.

A cake mix should make two fine 8" layers. You can make them taller by splitting each layer and adding icing, filling or filling/icing combination.

If it were me, I would probably use one recipe for one 8" and one 6", then another recipe for the other 8 and 6.
