If you don't want the lolly pop stick and just want to place roses on top of a cake...how do you do that w/out the stick? Could you use a piece of gum as your rose center??????

Maybe just break the stick off? I don't know...just brainstorming!

It's easy, just roll a little ball of gum or tootsie roll for a center and make the rose from there. If you have Mich Turner's "Spectacular Cakes" book, that's how she does it. Another option is to use hershey kisses for centers, that works well too.

Here's a link to a thread that has other links on starburst/tootsie roll roses. http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-341813-chocolate.html+roses
In case the link doesn't work, the thread is called "How I make Chocolate Roses".
Here's another link to a thread entitled "roses". http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-65833-.html
Gads I thought I lost this thread forever -- I've been looking for it long enough!! Glad to see it's still around!
