Hi icon_smile.gif I'm making a b/day cake for a friend in a few weeks & I'm making 2 dolphins pulling a male waterskier behind them ( don't ask !!! )
What I need are some ideas for making the rope thingy that they are pulling him with - the figures will be gumpaste..
I appreciate any suggestions , thanks icon_biggrin.gif

You might try looking to candy for ideas. Like Twizzler rope.

I call it Twizzler Rope, I think it is an old name for Twizzler Pull and Peel.

Twizzler is licorice that has many 'strands' all fused together and you can pull one string off of the rest. But you can also buy string licorice in both black and red. It's fairly thin as is, though I can't tell if it's as thin you need it. But it's pretty sturdy and I wouldn't suspect you would have to worry about it breaking.

You could use spagetti (excuse my spelling). You could use the icing trick to ice the spagetti if you do not like the off white color.

Ooooh - good idea Mazz. It'd remain straight, unlike licorice.

You could even use real string or twine (I think it's called "jute"? - brown, kind of hairy, looks like real rope...). It would look authentic - just as long as no one tries to eat it! icon_biggrin.gificon_wink.gif
