im making some gumpaste flowers but they don't shine why is that? I've seen them here and they shine and mine's don't did I did something wrong?
fondant and gumpaste don't shine without the application of luster dust or sometimes people put a rub of crisco, but I would not recommend that. You can also try painting on piping gel.
It's up to you if you want them to shine. There are some beautiful flowers in the galleries that don't have the shine. Fondant will work too, but also would need some luster dust to shine.
I have heard that you can use a brush and wet them a little and then they shine haven't tried it yet.
I've heard of people steaming their flowers to set the dust and add a sheen. Maybe that is the look you are wanting?
I was taught to steam the flowers over a pot of simmering water, you can use the lustre dust to get the extra shine but without they get the "plastic" look. Oh, they have to have stems to hold them by
