I'm so sorry. My kids would have loved the red teeth. What happened? What kind of icing were you using?
This was my first cake EVER...I used Duncan Hines from a can. And tried to tint the white icing red. Yick! I also used the whole bottle in order to get it a that red.
Gross, I don't see how anyone was able to eat enough to make their teeth red. Wilton red icing color tastes horrendous. LOL
Cute cake, though!
whenever I have someone that wants red or any dark color I worn them not to eat it and scrap it off.
I feel for you!!!!
I did something simular with blue!!!!
I didn't know what I was doing either. I was the worst student in my cake decorating class and I used the blue two years after I graduated from class. I think I slept through class on color tinting!
Good luck next time!!!!

Personally, I like the plastic snap off tips in the background. I always wondered if those things really work.
The ladybug may have dyed your teeth red, but at least you got a great story out of it!
Just thought I'd mention that next time you might try making the icing and coloring it the night before. I've found that red, black and other really dark colors seem to grow bolder as they sit a bit.
If it isn't the color you wanted in the morning then you can always add more.
Happy brushing.

my 1st cake looked almost like that ...........scary Im suprised i never gave up .....i i cant wait to see what ill make next.....I plot my dear daughters cake all year long
I just wanted to clarify....I did that cake over 3 years ago, and now I have my own cake decorating business.
Just wanted to show where I've come from.
Anyone else want to post "where they've come from" Pictures?
Here was the cake I did for my father's last birthday, it was a store bought angel food cake, I put strawberries in the middle and on top, and its covered with light Cool whip, lol. He was diabetic so I couldn't use frosting, and I wasn't on here to see the awesome diabetic frosting recipes. It looked like a slice of god help me but it tasted really good and Dad loved it, lol.
This was my husband's ice cream cake, again with the cool whip, LOL. I bought his favourite ice cream, and I baked brownies in a 9 inch round pan on parchment. So when it cooled I spread the ice cream on top, right in the pan and froze. When it was ready to serve I took it out, ran a hot knife around the edges and it popped right out. The writing is actually melted chocolate. It was sooooo hot here this past summer, darn thing was melting before I got it from the kitchen to the living room! (just like my Dad's cake). Hubby is always asking for an ice cream cake, this year maybe I'll make him a small 6 inch ice cream cake and then make him a real one! LOL (I told him, please let me make you a real cake! )
Both of these cakes were about 3 weeks apart this past August. I have a real disaster cake but its a naughty one so I can't post it here!!
I tinted some fondant bright pink yesterday...YUCK, it took the sweet taste right out of my MMF... That bitter 'red' taste is horrible!
Lindsay & Jamessweetie: you guys have come such a long way with your decorating. I think its great that you posted your first pics - I think it helps decorators who get frustrated and think they are never going to get the hang of it to see how much you can improve with practice.
Jamessweetie - "a slice of god help me" - ROFL - that is so funny!

Oh my goodness! That was sooooooo much fun. Unfortunately, I cannot submit my worst as I do not keep any evidence of the failures (and there have been several). Tears of laughter and empathy are running down my face, for I, too, have been there. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
