AMy favorite is chocolate. Caramel or vanilla would be good, too.

For years I used this mix of extracts in my buttercream icing & everyone loved it:

1 part vanilla  (whatever measure you want to use be it teaspoon, Tablespoon, cup or quart etc)

1/2 part butter

1/4 part almond

I always use 2 Tablespoon of this mixture in each batch of icing using 2# of powdered sugar.   I know that sounds like a lot but try it and see if you don't agree.  If you don't like that much cut down to 1 1/2 or even just 1 Tablespoon.

Some people don't like the almond so if you'd rather sub some lemon or orange extract.

You need at least 3 flavors to make a wonderful complex flavor that people will love.

Nothing beats vanilla (made with GOOD vanilla extract) to me!  I also really like a few drops of Lorann cheesecake flavouring.  I wouldn't say it tastes like cheesecake, but it does add some tastiness that my friends seem to love.
