Does anyone have directions or can you point me to directions for a cake like these?

I could probably come up with something close but it would be much easier with help from someone who has tried it already.

Thanks,
Cindy

Wilton has a picture and instructions for a 3D carriage cake. PastryWiz has instructions for a bassinet with the lace trim. They may not be exactly what you have in mind but it might give you some insight as to how it could be done. HTH

Hi, I have a picture posted in the baby shower album of this site that is very close to the ones you were wanting.

I used a half ball pan and mixed a little prepared gum paste with a little prepared fondant (you can also use mmf) kneaded them together and placed over the ball pan (outside) to cover half of the pan, this will form the hood.

It will take a few days to dry, just leave in a cool dry place. I made 3 1/2 sheet cakes ahead of time and froze them. the day of the shower I cut all cakes to fit curve of the hood. They were then stacked and filled with strawberry filling (changeable of course).

Lightly cover all layers with bc and roll out fondant in to fat snakes. Flatten the ends of the "snakes" and set beside the cake flattened side down. You will need about 10-11 of these spread around the cake (they will make the pleats of the skirt.).

Roll out more fondant to cover layered cakes and smooth around top. I used the wilton mat with measurments to help get this right. Loosely lay the fodant around the "pleats" and trim the edges to form the skirt.

I made a baby out of flesh tinted fondant and wrapped it in a tiny bit of pink tinted fondant (a girl). I painted a face using tips of bamboo skewers. I then rolled a small amount of yellow tinted fondant to form the blanket and trimed after I layed it over the baby to fit the edge of the cake.

Pipe a little bc around the opposite edge of the cake and lay the hood on top. Insert popsicle sticks into cake under hood and drape more fondant over these loosely, only around base of hood. Pipe pink buttercream around hood and add bows at top. Pipe white bc around base of skirt and blanket.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. Feel free to pm me if I did.

Thanks Tabs,

I think yours is adorable too, I just missed it when scanning the gallery. I appreciate the instructions. I think they make sense but I never know until I try something if my brain 'gets it'! LOL

I have a basinett cake in my photos. I used a 13x19 pan cut in half for the base and a 10 inch round cut in half and stacked for the "hood". I had to do some trimming of the 10 inch round to get it to fit perfectly. Hope this helps.
