I absolutely adore the original “Princess” illustrations by Tim Shumate Illustrations and Fabricake’s hand-painted cake version is very well done — a fantastic homage to a superstar illustrator. You can view more of Tume Shumate’s illustrations and order prints at

More on our blog:

The first thing that struck me when I saw JuniperCakery’s birdhouse cake was the vibrant turquoise.  This cake is so precious and the hand painting of the roof and board really add to the charm.

Ruffled wedding cake! My first attempt with the ruffles.

Sweetly sophisticated and pleasantly feminine, this blossoming beauty by heartofoklahoma is at the height of garden party perfection. I love the the way the gentle ruffles, bead-like borders and the blooming cluster of flowers come together in this elegant creation.

Summer engagement cupcakes

These delicate engagement party cupcakes from Hilaryrose are absolutely divine. The soft color palette and ethereal lace designs are feminine and chic, and I love the tasteful touch of whimsy from the garter-inspired topper. Sophisticated and fun!

Steam punk wedding cake

I’m usually a fan of delicate, traditional wedding cakes, but how could you not love this steampunk cake by odrycakes? The design highlights the unique style of steampunk, incorporating antiquated mechanics with an element of science fiction whimsy.
