Grim And The Pink Fairy
Half choc half caramel 10"x8" tall mud cake, with toffee vodka and choc ganache. Figures depict bride and groom (he's a drummer; she's a body piercer); were fashioned around wire supports and made from cmc'd fondant. Glutenfree and mostly dairyfree (caramel part of cake contained white chocolate). The succulents are based on some black ones I spotted in a garden locally and painted with vodka. Th figures were placed on the cake at the venue but the photos from the venue are a little cluttered so I've posted this one.

Discworld Death
My birthday cake. I'm obsessed with Pratchetts Discworld and 'Death' is my favourite character so I made a death by/in chocolate for my 60th birthday. It ended up over 2' tall; made up of 4x choc and caramel mud cakes and a ton of dark chocolate modelling paste. He has a mate; the tiny 'Death of Rats'. At the final hurdle, Deaths hands decided not to play the game and completely disintegrated so I had to emergency construct some replacements which look totally wrong and dont quite hold the scythe in place but in my defence- the cake tasted superb. Amusing fact; The skull is constructed around a small fir cone. I needed something a specific size and that fitted thus proving you can utilise anything you have handy so long as it is completely sealed from the edible part of the cake.

Nhw Street Cake
Made for a Neighbourhood watch annual meeting. Outer roof and house frontage plaques were made from cmc strengthened fondant, dried before being stuck on cake. There's a rook on the central chimney and a cat lounging on the roof, and there would've been drainpipes a bike and a postman but I completely ran out of time and energy!!!! C'est la vie!!

Gf Wedding Cake
Chocolate fudge cake with Nutella SMBC (Baileys chocolate de Luxe Liqueur); Lemon Buttercake with Lemon SMBC (Limoncello) and Vanilla Buttercake with vanilla SMBC (Galliano) and caramelised nuts. Each cake was white chocolate ganached and then covered with appropriately flavoured hand tinted fondant in pistachio, pale pistachio and cream. Cutting cake was vanilla and decorated in chocolate and fondant leaves as per the bottom tier. Wired gumpaste flowers (my own gumpaste) were made by hand (by me) and wired into wreaths so that they could be removed easily and mounted as a keepsake by the couple after the wedding. Top tier was on a pedestal glass stand. Hidden in amongst the flowers was an Irish flag, a ships wheel and on the top tier a small silver painted ships anchor as the groom is an avid marine historian and his bride wanted something on the cake to show that. I stopped short of a schooner.

Vertical Layer Cake
I said when I found this photo I would post it. Here it is for anyone who wanted to see it! Layers of very thin slab cake, cut into strips, smbc'd and rolled up then covered and decorated as per required. Fiddly, messy and time consuming but I love making these- although as I am GF its not quite as easy but if you use fatless or 'blowaway' sponge it holds together much better. This one was decorated with rolled chocolate modelling paste roses and leaves. I shall be making one of these layer cakes for my own birthday in a weeks time...think I might make it rainbow strips...with macarons on the outside! Ooo... I'm drooling already!
