Teapot Cake
I made this cake for my friend's birthday. It's the second cake I've decorated and it's the first cake I've done all by myself! Top is soccer ball pan and two 9" rounds under it. It has it's problems, but I'm pretty happy with it. Need to work on my gumpaste skills....handles and spout are cracked and lumpy. Lid is fondant with fondant butterfly and gumpaste flowers. The rest is buttercream. WASC cake with french vanilla frosting (recipe from this site)

Whimsical Birthday
Bless it...this cake was a disaster from the start. I used a cake recipe from this website and it was way to moist (never thought I'd be complaining about a moist cake) but it didn't come out of the pan right and half of it got stuck in the pan. Then it stuck to the cooling racks. Ugh...nightmare! I tried another recipe for the first time...a chocolate cream cheese frosting (not from this site). All I can say is YUK! The consistency was thick and pasty and I think it needed to be sweeter. I did not want to use it in the icing so I used it in the filling since I had waisted so much ingredient making it. I made a chocolate buttercream frosting which was very sweet but the best thing about this cake taste wise. The cake did taste ok but I think with it being so moist and being refridgerated that it gave it what I call a "packy" consistency so not very pallatable to me personally. The fondant kept tearing and the cake did start to slide after the fondant was added. I had a dear friend that rescued me and if help save it. Despite all the disasters with this cake, it was my first one so I will try again and I did have fun making it! :)
