Route 66 Anniversary Cake
I made this for my in-laws 40th anniversary party. The top layer is a white cake with SMBC, The middle layer is strawberry cake with SMBC and the bottom is chocolate with SMBC and chocolate ganache. It was my first mostly successful batch of MMF for covering the cake. I need some more practice on making it, but am pleased with the results. The road is carved and all decorations are made with MMF, gumpaste and rice krispies, minus the car on top. That came from Wally World.

The Light Side
This was for a Star Wars party for brothers. It's the Light side of the force. I had a hard time coming up with the concept for this one. The bottom layer depicts my interpretation of Tatooine. There is even a gumpaste/fondant sand monster on the cake board. All other figures are toys. The cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream.

The Dark Side
Two tier chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream covere in fondant. The figures are toys. For all of you diehard Star Wars fans who want to say "There are not 7 episodes!", I know! We had a comment on that at the party. But the birthday boy turned 7 and that is what he got! I have to admit, Star Wars cakes are tough to do. There are so many directions that the cakes can take.

Sarah's Cake
My daughter wanted an Addam's family cake. I made a cool topper out of royal icing and it messed up the day I had to put it on the cake. I scrambled and made this haunted house out of rice krispy treats. My recipe didn't firm up enough and the house kept falling leaning. But she enjoyed it. It's a spice cake (her favorite) with cream cheese icing.

Purple Pillow Cake
This was originally to be part of my daughter and neices birthday cake, but the party had to be moved out. I found out that the party needed to be moved and decided to finish this smaller cake for our at home dinner celebration. It's my first pillow cake an I was able to take advantage of my new extruder gun. It's a yellow cake with buttercream, covered in fondant. I have more pictures at http://debssweetspot.blogspot.com/2011/08/pillow-cake-and-tiara.html .

Mini Rose Swirl Cake
I made this for a cake walk at my daughters school. I had higher hopes for the decorations, but I'm two weeks away from having a baby and decided not to pull out my fondant stuff. Instead, I put on some small dots and mini rose swirls. The cake is 6 layers of white cake that is dyed to look like a rainbow. If I could figure out how to upload more than one picture, I'd post the before icing pictures. The layers looked amazing! I have additional pictures here - http://debssweetspot.blogspot.com/2011/05/rainbow-cake-with-swirl-rose.html .

It's a chocolate and vanilla checkerboard cake with butter cream. The decorations are fondant and gumpaste. I was going to do daffodils as otheres on CC have done, but ran out of time!
