New Chapter Of Life
Cake decorating is just a hobby and hadn't made any in a while because I decided to go back to college (after graduating 20 years ago! Eeek!) and get my Bachelor's in Nursing. Anyway, the university which I attend is also a performing arts/liberal arts school and they incorporate art into EVERYTHING! So, I had an assignment to do an artistic representation of what nursing meant to me so naturally, I made a cake! It's an open book showing nursing as a new chapter of my life. Although MY new chapter is being a nurse, I think this cake would be great for anyone starting a new challenge, career change, life change, etc. Thanks for looking! :-)

Damask Wedding Cake
I'm sure everyone is tired of damask wedding cakes, so here's another one! :-) This was the first one I have made. Stenciling was scary but turned out ok. Thanks for looking! BTW... if this looks like one of your cakes, I'm so sorry for not referencing you. The bride gave me a picture of one she wanted and I'm not sure whose it was.

Simple Lavender And Ivory Wedding Cake
The bride saw a cake in a Wilton book and really liked the flowers (piped royal icing) but wanted the cake to look different. She wanted a very simple, country-ish cake in ivory using those flowers. My piping skills are pretty weak but I finally figured it out! :) It's pretty plain and simple but turned out ok

50Th Birthday Masquerade Ball
This was made for a 50th birthday/formal masquerade ball. I saw a cake Christopher Garren (MY HERO) made designed to reflect the style of a bride's wedding dress and LOVED the shape so we borrowed it! It took my sister and I an entire week to make this cake! It is 4 ft. tall and weighs around 100 lbs. Without a doubt the biggest and most elaborate cake we've made yet (I know it's not much for you "pros" - we're just hobby bakers :) Many firsts on this cake including carving and realistic sugar flowers. Thanks for looking!

Graduation Cake
This is a graduation cake for a beautiful young lady who wanted, grey, stripes, bulldogs (school mascot) and something on wires coming out of the top. This is what my sister & I came up with to incorporate all she requested. The bulldog is a chocolate transfer and the graduation hats are made from gumpaste.

Santa Fe Wedding Cake
This was my first wedding cake and also my first time making gumpaste flowers, using an airbrush and using brush embroidery. Also my first, and hopefully last, time to transport a cake 8 hours in the car! I had a lot of fun making it. It probably took me three times as long as it would take most of you but I'll get faster someday. My sister free-handed the flowers and we then airbrushed them with a gold/copper paint and just used white RI. The flowers are suppose to be peonies but if someone thought they looked like poppies or roses I was ok with that too :)

Suzanne's Engagement
This is my favorite cake so far (which isn't saying much because I only started making cakes about 3 months ago - but I do love it) My wonderful sister and ever-faithful father helped so much on this cake. It's a 12" - 9" - 6" with the bottom being a chocolate turtle cake and the top two lemon w/ raspberry filling. All the decorations are made of fondant except for the ring which I bought online. The original plan was to use the clay gun to stripe all three layers but it was WAY to time consuming so I switched to harlequin for the other two. Hope the bride likes it :)

Winter Wonderland First Birthday
This is the fifth cake I've made. I suppose I should quit numbering them to let people know I'm just learning, but I feel the need to make an excuse for all the imperfections (i.e. the leaning tower of snowman! ARGH!!) Anyway, it's a WASC with buttercream covered in fondant. All the decorations are made of fondant. Thanks for looking! :)

Gingerbread Christmas
This the first cake I've made to sell (and my 4th cake EVER) so it's certainly not perfect but I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. The cakes are covered in red BC with fondant snow overlays. All the fondant decorations were made with the help of my wonderful sister who actually knows less about cakes than I do! :) We MAY have gone a bit overboard with the decorations but it's just so fun!!
