A Cake For My Friends Western Themed Baby Shower Its A Strawberry Cake Covered In Chocolate Ganache I Used The Brush Embroidery Techniqu
A cake for my friend's western-themed baby shower. It's a strawberry cake covered in chocolate ganache. I used the brush embroidery technique to create the top border and the paisley designs. I used KathysCC template to make the baby cowgirl boots. Here is a link to the template: http://media.cakecentral.com/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/510013/BootTemplate2C.jpg I think the little boots turned out cute, even though I did attach a couple of the pieces wrong. LOL!

White Lace Christmas Cookie
I love the look of the lace cookies you can make using royal icing. I found a pretty design on Nadia's blog http://cakecreationsforyou.blogspot.com/ , and I used that for inspiration. It is a chocolate roll-out cookie decorated with royal icing. I "painted" the lettering with gold luster dust mixed with a little vanilla.

German Chocolate Cake
My husband asked for a German chocolate cake (his favorite) for his birthday. My first thought was that it was going to look really plain, but I found some really pretty cakes on CC. I ended up attempting a version of the designs used by candee2300 and lazy_susan. This was my first attempt at a reverse shell border and also my first attempt at making a simple syrup and using it on a cake. We haven't cut the cake yet. I hope it's good!

Biplane Skywriter
This was my first attempt at torting a cake. I think it turned out pretty well. Thanks to Indydebi for the torting advice. I used Copacabanya's airplane cake for inspiration for the skywriting. The cake is 8" round and I used the Original WASC recipe and a raspberry jam/raspberry jello filling. Yummy! The biplane was done using the Royal Icing Transfer technique. Thanks to cakehelp for her wonderful tutorial.
