4/8/11 Cake was 9" pyramid chocolate fudge cake with 9" square base. Icing is buttercream icing. All decorations are edible: Topper is actual birthday boy on the edible image. Street signs are edible images on white chocolate, trees are royal icing on icecream cones, bushes are mega campfire marshmallows and rocks are chocolate rocks.

4/17/11 chocolate fudge cake torted & filled with vanilla buttercream. Sides iced in chocolate fudge icing. A real Magic the Gathering card was scanned from a comic book and modified in Photoshop by Chad to include the birthday message and holding a birthday cake (covering a rather gruesome skull in the monsters hand). It was printed on frosting and applied to the top layer. Three stashes of candy treasure were hidden in the layers.

Star Wars Darth Vader 's Tie Fighter

Design was copied from an actual toy from toys r us. Vanilla 8x10x2 inch cake is carved and iced in gray vanilla buttercream. Parts of the cake were stacked with the cake scraps to allow the cake wedge to be 4" in front and 1" in back. Shading was done with airbrush. Wings are cut from black foam core board. The round pod is actually a 4" styrofoam ball. The window on the pod is made from hard candy poured into a pyrex dish. The adult who requested this was thrilled, but it makes more sense as a child's cake. Made 01-16-2010

3/2/08 This cake was for my best friend Susan's mom's milestone birthday. We won't say which one I have an aversion to covering cakes with fondant, so these are all buttercream with a few fondant flower accents. The shoe box is vanilla cake with raspberry filling. The shoes are cake servers with cake toes. The hat brim is white chocolate with crisp rice. The hat is fudge cake with rapberry filling. The purse is fudge cake with buttercream filling and marshmallow poles handles. All the cosmetics are molded white chocolate painted with luster dust. The flowers are daisy-molded gumpaste painted different colors.

4/20/09 3 tier stacked design cake Purchased gumpaste carnations were dusted with pink. Cakes were vanilla cake dyed pink. The orangy-pink roses I was given for the topper did not quite go with the gumpaste carnations I made but the hostess did not seem to notice. Fondant medallions were molded for the sides and dusted with gold.

This is a 15" vase of flowers made out of 7 tiers of vanilla cake and butter cream icing. The stylized flowers are royal icing. The vase has gold petal dust and gold dragees. FYI. I used a plastic rod support in the middle which stabilizes the cake.
