Mod Mom Baby Shower
This is my attempt at making a "wrap", only I did it with soft candy clay...dumb I tell ya!! It softened up too quickly and then the two ends didn't come together. I didn't allow for the shortage or height at the seam so I just started pinching the edges to give it that ruffled look. The mod mom was chocolate and she melted on the way to the shower because I couldn't find the house. I had to stick it in the freezer and then run a hot knife over the breaks to "weld" it. Never again, never again!

Peter Rabbit
This was iced in BC with fondant decorations. The customer supplied the cup and bow for the top. The carrots were my first time really using Satin Ice fondant. A note to those of you who've never used this...it dries pretty quick (or rather it gets a "crust" on it very quickly). Thanks to those of you who helped me with ideas a few months back.

My Niece's Thanksgiving Turkeys
Allie's second cake (my niece)! She helped mix the batter, ice the cakes, color the gumpaste, roll the gumpaste and cut the feathers out. We let them dry overnight and she got up extra early before school to finish them. Then she wouldn't let me cut one!! And she made me bring all the supplies with me from Alabama to Orlando! I should have at least gotten one bite!!

Iceskating Girl For Jillian
One of my students wanted me to help her create a cake for her oldest daughter. So I got to spend time with her showing "new" tricks and letting her do all the hard work. Here is what we came up with. The people at the ice-skating rink were asking where she got it and she was so excited to say she made it. I told her since I designed it, smoothed the icing, melted and colored the chocolate and then made the transfer, I was going to upload it on here since it was soooo cute!

Baby Shower
This one didn't quite come out as I had planned. I took all my stuff down to my mom's house and baked and decorated there. I'll never bake outside my home again! Took way too long to find things and I couldn't get the creative juices flowing. At the last minute my mom said she wanted the pacifiers on it. I had made eight small white roses (one on each side of the large pink roses) but couldn't find my flower lifter and dropped one so I nixed the white roses.

Scottie's Cake With Flowers On It
This is what the cake looked like after I put on the roses the bride gave me. They were supposed to be bright purple daisies and I got there to find they were white roses. You couldn't do a whole lot with them or else it would have really taken away from the cake's design and you wouldn't have been able to see the "H" topper had I put more than one rose on it. Anyway, it looks nice with the flowers but I liked it plain. This was my first square wedding cake which took me forever to get smooth.

Strawberry Shortcake
This was for my niece. All she could tell me was it needed to be Strawberry Shortcake! So, I found a book that had a beach themed Strawberry Shortcake and went with that since we had the birthday party outside in the sweltering heat!! This was my first time sponging a cake. My palm trees started falling off in the 1-hour drive to my mom's house. So, I made my husband stop and buy some toothpicks at the nearest gas station to hold them up! Worked fairly well, except for messing up the border.

Zak's 1St Birthday!!
This is for a friend's little boy. She wanted construction as the theme. The pieces are chocolate transfers - this is a first for me. I love the way they aren't so fragile, but creating the color black without making the candy seize was not an easy task for me. I haven't had much experience in the chocolate department. I could've gotten my lines a bit more angled and evenly spaced.

Bass Diving Into Water
My attempt at making a realistic fish - went with the easy end!! Ha! Ha! This is for a friend who loves to fish. The "water" was meant to be a kinda murky pond water color. This was colored piping gel. His little girl said, "I want some cake, but I don't want any relish on it." Relish?!! Well, I guess it does look like relish.

Barb Bubbles 1
This was a rush job. I started baking the 10" coconut and 8" chocolate on Saturday morning at 10:30. Made the cakes, the icing, the MMF, the royal icing dots and then after the dots dried I hastily painted them with violet luster dust. The cake wasn't settled well since it was freshly baked but I got it to my mom's house an hour away and then put it together. This was for my sister. She's getting married in Gatlinburg this week sometime! Dohhh!
