Kids' Table Cake
This is a cake I designed for the kids' table at a recent wedding. The reception was held in a barn on a plantation. It is RKT covered in buttercream & decorated w/fondant. Plastic farm animals were added so the kids had something to interact with while the adults enjoyed the reception. I hear it was a hit with the kids & adults.

Paisley Birthday
This was a cake made on the fly for a teacher at my son's school. She asked my son to pick the colors but I didn't think black & red were appropriate so came up with this color scheme. It's vanilla cake with cream cheese icing. Details are in fondant. I didn't have paisley cutters so used a leaf cutter and trimmed each one with my pizza cutter. Used the Wilton mold for the other accents.

Scott's 10Th Birthday
This was my attempt at a LEGO cake. I still struggle with square & rectangle fondant application but think I did okay. I did get praise from the birthday boy as to these being proper scale (although I'm not sure he was right). That made me feel good considering I don't know any 10 yr. old boys who praise adults often. LOL! This was fun to do but a little more tedious that I thought it would be. The Star Wars LEGO figures were provided by the birthday boy.

Sonic The Hedgehog
This is a 6 in vanilla cake covered in buttercream and fondant to resemble Sonic the Hedgehog. Due to health problems I declined to make this boy's cake (after doing it for the last 4 years) and felt terrible about it. The grocery store cake ordered couldn't include Sonic and he was disappointed. I was then determined to make a small one in spite of feeling bad. As I began to assemble it our power went out so I lit about 8 candles and surrounded myself with them. I was able to do this by candlelight and the look of surprise and happiness on his face made it all worth it!

Elaine & Lloyd's Wedding
This is a cupcake tree topped with a two-tier topsy-turvy cake. The cupcakes were red velvet/cream cheese, strawberry/BC and green tea/honey BC. I sculpted the figures using gumpaste at first a few days in advance but ended up covering them in modeling chocolate due to drying/cracked appearance. There were several imperfections but I did my best in the 103 degree heat we had. I loved the easy setup of the cupcake tree I ordered however, the reception site was very poorly air conditioned & the humidity caused the cardboard to sag toward the end of the night. Otherwise I recommend using it. Glue dots worked wonderfully for attaching ribbon! Lot & lots of work but seeing how happy the bride was with it made it worthwhile.

Nicole's Usf Graduation
I made this for my niece to celebrate her graduation from USF as a History major. It is all vanilla cake covered in buttercream & fondant. I also used gumpaste for pieces that needed to be sturdier than fondant. Some other decorative items/tools used include silver dragees, airbrushed pearl dust, clay glun (for the tassle), funky alphabet cutters, etc.... This cake traveled in separate pieces over a period of 5-6 hrs in the car and was assembled on-site. It's not perfect but I did my best all things considered!

Haley's Graduation
I made this for my cousin to celebrate her graduation from high school. It is vanilla cake covered in vanilla buttercream & fondant. Due to time constraints I used a piece of cardboard covered in black fondant for the graduation cap top. I also used the Wilton candy pieces from the wedding cake section (I got on sale over 1/2 off) for the border rather than piping.

Nakiah's 13Th Topsy-Turvy Birthday
This was made at my niece's request & partially designed by her to celebrate her 13th birthday. It's chocolate cake with raspberry filling covered in vanilla buttercream & fondant. The details are gumpaste & fondant & silver dragees. I used shimmer & luster dusts too. And...it was my FIRST time airbrushing a cake. Took me a little bit to figure out what pressure to use, etc. but a lot easier on my hands than kneading color into the fondant! (Just need to remember to wear a mask next time.) And even though a dog ran out in front of my car & I slammed on brakes causing my tray of skewered letters to land on top of the cake in my floorboard...the cake survived with only a blemish or two. Whew!!! Fun, fun, fun!

Enchanted Spring Tree
This is a Debbie Brown inspired creation using vanilla cake covered in buttercream and fondant. I handmade all the details using fondant. It took about 5 hours to complete. It was used in my son's spring carnival cake walk but next year I think I will request it go on the silent auction table instead. Lots of work but worth the smile on the little girl's face who won it.

Chocolate & Champagne Wedding
This is yellow cake covered & filled with buttercream. The base of each tier has fondant ribbon in the colors chocolate & champagne. When the topper was initially put on it tumbled right off the side & knocked off the front icing on the middle two tiers so I'm just glad I managed to repair it before the ceremony started.

Mackenna's Strawberry Shortcake
My interpretation of a Strawberry Shortcake themed cake after looking at hundreds of pics online. The top tier is strawberry, the bottom is chocolate. It is covered in buttercream & decorated with fondant details. I used RKT & red Wilton candy melts for the strawberry on top. The small strawberries are candy melts & fondant.

A Knight's Party
This was a castle cake made for my son's medieval knight party. The cake is vanilla with grey tinted buttercream. The details were made using fondant. I used brick, cobblestone & wood grain plastic impression mats for the effects. Once in place I piped green buttercream using the grass tip.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
My 2nd MMCH cake and I'm happier with this one. It's vanilla cake w/vanilla BC covered in fondant. I handmade all pieces using fondant & gumpaste. Only the ears are inedible. The head is RKT. I've found that covering the RKT in modeling chocolate makes it sturdier for cakes like this.

Handy Manny Birthday
This was made for a friend's son turning 2. It is a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting covered in fondant. I handmade all of the fondant details. I did cheat with the sign by attaching it to a garden sign. Backing out of the driveway I went off the curb & Manny crashed into 3 pieces in my husband's lap so had to reassemble on site. I did my best though.

Andrew Jackson
This was an apple cake with caramel frosting filler and coated in buttercream. The details are in fondant & gumpaste. It was made to celebrate the Andrew Jackson Staff of the Springtime Tallahassee organization. I read online that AJ liked apples which was my inspiration for the cake.
