Hula Girl Cake - My First Doll Cake
A close friend is moving to Hawaii, so I thought it was the perfect time to try out a doll cake. I was nervous about using a mixing bowl, but put in a rose nail (thanks cc'ers!) and it worked like a charm! I wrote "aloha" and her name in royal, and did a bunch of eensy-beensy drop flowers.

Elvis Birthday Cake
I made this cake for a friend who adores Elvis. I attempted my first FBCT, and it wouldn't come off of the waxed paper (!!!) so I had to free hand it, at 7 in th e morning, and I am NOT a morning person! I am not happy with the side of his face, but she was thrilled, and that is really all that matters. Thanks to MMDD for the image!

Wilton Class 1 - Cake #2
This cake was for a coworker, who requested a red velvet birthday cake. I had never worked with the cream cheese butter cream, and it was so soft I couldn't do much, so I went for stars! I am sure that the fact that this is my second cake has NOTHING to do with my inability to cover the top with roses! I am blaming my warm hands! :)

Wilton Class 1 - Cake #1
My boss was disturbed by the idea that I would bake a cake over the weekend, frost it in class on Tuesday, and he would eat it on Wednesday. He had no idea that people don't get up super early and bake and ice cakes on the same day! Since he was so upset, I put a big 3 on the top and wrote "days old" on the sides, to reinforce the idea that my cake was (gasp) three days old! :)
