For a friend's 30th bday. he has a black bass with a maple neck. i had SO much fun making this cake. i used a flame fade technique from a picture on this site by layering yellow, orange, and red in the bag. i used the guitar pan and cut it to resemble his bass. All buttercream icing with almond bark accents.
for a friend's son. he LOVES star wars (as do I), so i made this. i get several ideas from this website and will mix/match ideas, sorry if i never reference anyone. i know this idea came from this site though- i love this site! the death star is from the sports ball pan. im getting more comfortable with writing and with smoothing icing. All BC icing.
first attempt at using edible images and royal icing. it was for a friends 30th bday. i had in my mind what i wanted to do with the pictures but it was really hard to find a place to print out specific sizes for me, finally i found a publix that could do it. the pics were B/W but got tinited green sitting over night on the icing. royal icing is cool, but SO fragile, i made tons of extra letters for the initials and im glad i did, it had to travel from birmingham to atlanta.
this is my attempt at a topsy turvy cake. it didnt turn out like i had hoped. it was for a friends keep on dating shower, everyone seemed to like it. all BC icing with fake flowers.
i did this for my friends that had their engagement party on St. Patricks Day, and the groom is also irish. his last name is Jones- thats why there is a "J" in the middle of the shamrock. its a 1/4 sheet cake bottom. the shamrock is made from a Wilton deep mini hearts pan with extra batter put into a small loaf pan for the stalk. all icing is buttercream.
just another view. the cruiser pan has a top, so i had to cut it out to make it a convertible. i used to hate the idea of cutting peices to shape, but im getting more used to it now.
cake i did for my friend's little boy's 2nd bday. it was pretty time consuming, but i was happy with the results. adding the road was last minute. i used the wilton cruiser pan, and all icing is buttercream.
cake i did for a friend's little boy's 1st birthday. its supposed to be the caterpillar from baby einstein. this was a really long cake, i used the sports ball pan and it took 2 1/2 cake mixes. there wasnt alot of room on the cake to do alot of writing or decorating, so i just used icing to decorate the cake board. all icing is buttercream and the antennas are black and green pipe cleaners twisted together.
cake i did for a friend of mine having a baby shower. all icing is buttercream. this is the 3rd cake i ever did, i wish i had pics of my first two cakes. ive learned alot more about coloring, and how much icing is needed for things.
