I need some ideas for a cake auction for Cub Scouts. I know you think it's easy but it's not like Girl Scouts - where they are so easy to please. I need something that is really going to appeal to the BOYS - then they will beg their parents to bid on it. The past two yeas we did something autographed from the Ravens - each one drew about $350.00. This year I want to get away from that. One suggestion was to do a TIED DYED CAKE - but I'm not sure how to go about that. Plus I'm just a beginner. Any suggestions or pictures would be greatly appreciated. The BAKE OFF is November 2nd.
Thanks
Noticed this was your first post...well then, let me welcome you to Cakecentral!!
How about an X-box or Play Station cake...a few of our members have posted pics!
My son's class (6 yrs. old) absolutely loved a dinosaur cake I made for his birthday. It's in my photos......you don't have to be so elaborate...but I think all boys like dinosaurs!!!
Maybe doing a BCT of the Boy Scout emblem?
Or bugs! Boys love bugs!
You might even consider doing the emblem of the Ravens since the Raven stuff went over so well before.
Good luck and be sure to post your pic!
My sons cub scout troop did a cake auction also. The boys each decorated a cake themselves to auction. The most ppular were the ones resembling either the Pinewood Derby or any thing patriotic...especially if you add little army men!
For the pinewood derby cakes they would make the actual race tracks and would just add the little plastic cars. Oh, and space theme cakes went over well too. One boy actually made a cake with the solar system on it using gum balls, gum drops, etc for planets and even added the Milky Way (the actual candy bar was on the cake so it definately was a hit!)
Good Luck!

Palnes train and automobiles come to mind when i think of boys.............
