I have never used a filling in a cake and thought I would try it. Do you use jams or jellies or make your own? What about puddings? Thanks!!

Hi baileysue...cute name...my daughter's name is Bailey... icon_lol.gif I just attempted to make a cake filled with something. I bought pie filling..lemon and cherry. I didn't mix them of course but I made a chocolate cake and in between my layers I just put the filling. I used the cherry for the chocolate cake and lemon for the lemon cake...lol I haven't attempted with anything else...yet icon_rolleyes.gif Good luck and what ever it is I am sure it will be yummy thumbs_up.gif

baileysue, I use an instant pudding filling all the time in my cakes. I take 1 box (4 serving size) instant pudding and add 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk (you can also use 2 cups of heavy cream, for a thicker filling) I let this sit for 5 minutes and then whip with a mixer till it is very thick and mousse like. I put this between my cake layers and even put fresh fruit with it. Make sure when you are filling a cake that you make a dam of frosting around the edge of the bottom cake to hold the filling in.

I also use the instant pudding as mentioned above. For strawberry filling, I just use strawberry preserves. It tastes wonderful.

I just made a cake for a friend of mine and used a "Twinkie filling" from Sweet Dreams website...see link below otherwise you might get some adult sites if you just do a "Sweet dreams"search like I did. (yikes!) At any rate, my friend and all his guest just raved about it. I had some left in a container in the fridge and my husband can't keep his hands off of it. I must admit it was pretty good! If you can't get the recipe, I would be glad to email it to you.

I've also used puddings and some of the other filling recipes on this site, and when I've been really lazy, I have just used my buttercream that I frosted the cake with. There is an excellent lemon filling on this website as well. Good luck!
