Hi everyone. I am starting to sell my cakes as a business now and have no idea what to charge for scroll work/stenciling. I know it varies and depends on the time it takes me, but how do you guys go about pricing it? Do you have a good formula or rule of thumb?

I suggest you do a business plan and figure out your pricing structure *before* you sell any cakes. I suggest you put "price cake" in the search box at the top right of every page and choose "threads."

Aone way is to configure your pricing structure to already include x amount* of decor -- some people start charging for every jot and tittle and it's counter productive --

so scrollwork and stenciling would fall under my normal pricing -- no upcharge --

* and by x amount i mean an hour or two but if a decorator is new aka slow you really can't charge for your real time work and be competitive -- so it's something to work into --
