I want to make a decorated cake that is a "house", as opposed to gingerbread house. About 30-60 servings. (?) I am more about how it looks and excess servings ok.
The bottom is a layered rectangle. Dimensions? To make it "look right". Then bubble tea straws and add a another "tier" that is a "triangle shape". Right?
But HELP???? What are the dimensions to do it? Scale is obviously most important. Any suggestions welcome!
A30 or 50 servings is quiet a difference! There are great cake serving charts out there, but unless you could tell me the servings you need exactly and the dimensions in proportion you want, I can't help. You could make a 6x8" for 30 or 60 people, depending on the hight (storeys of the house). And the roof has to be accounted for. Do you want it to be cake or rkt?
what i do is get a picture -- as in google "images of houses" and look through and find me one i like then i take a ruler up to the computer screen and measure all the dimensions -- then multiply it out to make it big enough -- does that translate to you --
i do that for whatever i'm making -- cars, shoes, anything -- i get a picture measure it right where it's at -- and then multiply by 2 -- if that's too small multiply by 4 or 7 or whatever gets me my basic size for my servings and for my project --
images with side views as well as aerial views are best but you can kind of fake/imagine some of it --
so multiply each dimension by the same number -- voila
like these
The variance in servings in because it is for family, so it doesn't matter if there is "extra" cake.:)
I kinda did what K8 said, and did a 6x8 "base". The gabled top/ roof I am working on. The base is 6x8 and about 6" high. Crossing my fingers it will work. Thanks ladies!
Ai've got a file for you but after i got it scanned into the computer but i can't figure out how to move it to the board here -- i think i could email it -- pm me if that's something you want to look at -- but it really sounds like you got this --
so if your house is 6" tall to the eave of the roof -- the triangle could be 3-4" tall-- 3.5
Thanks K8... I think I drew it a little steeper roof line--- like 4" high. Seems straight forward, but you never know till you try. (Fingers crossed). Since you did this it , YES, I will pm you for the file. I would rather check twice than mess it up once...lol. Thanks
you've got mail -- and you've got this -- it is as straight forward as you think it is
best to you -- you're very welcome
