Hi,

I'm looking into buying a printer to use to make edible images. I am only just starting my business (since I'm fifteen), and I need a cheap printer. Does anyone know if the Canon PIXMA MG2920 Wireless Inkjet is good? Can you recommend any other cheap (around $40) printer?

Thanks!

ANot sure you would be able to find a brand new printer for that. It's absolutely must be brand new, you can't use a printer that's had regular ink ran through it already.

I have an Epsom c88 that I got from Amazon for $80. But please know the cost of the printer is only one half. The other half of the expense are the edible ink cartridges and those can be pricy. You won't get that set up for less than $100 im afraid :(.

HI Dalya,

I would love to see some of your work!  Regarding edible printing, you only want to purchase a printer if you are going to use it at least once per week.  If you are not, I would not recommend getting one.  If you dont think you will print that regularly, there are companies like mine that will print and ship for you.  Once you build up your business a little bit so you are printing once a week, then you buy the printer.  I do not recommend an Epson printer.  While some have had success, it is more prone to problems then an Canon because it does not have a removable printhead.  So if you get a clog, you are stuck.  The Canons that are compatable currently are the Canon MG5520, MG5620 or ix6820.  Unfortunately, the printer you mentioned is a two cartridge printer and there are not any edible inks for that style printer, I am sorry :( However, usually on Black Friday Best Buy and Staples does offer great sales on them, we may get lucky this year!  But again, I can't stress it enough you have to use it once a week!  Since you are budget conscious, When you are ready to buy your supplies, sign up on our website for a new account and you will receive a coupon for 5% off supplies, keep in mind it is only good for 1 week so open the account when you are ready to order!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
