ASplit your batter into bowls, colour them whatever and however many colours you want and bake each layer separately. :-)

AYep! There might be an easier way but that's what I'd do. I think that's how the last two I've seen on the uk thread were made and they turned out well. Good luck and happy washing up! :-)

AYep that's what I do too. Your layers will be nice and even if you measure out the batter. I use 2 pans at a time and just do it that way. It's time consuming but not too bad as the thin layers bake fairly quickly.

That's what I did for the one I made last year. I baked two pans at a time, three times. My layers were a little thicker than in your picture.

How do they taste with the food coloring? I LOVE colors and rainbows...but am a little unsure of how they'd taste with the food colorings. Is it really not bad? tyvm

AI did my daughter's pony castle cake with the rainbow layers. It was the first time I did rainbow and turned out great. I used Wilton coloring and didn't change the cake taste at all.

I used Americolors and didn't notice an off taste either.

AI used a lot of colouring (Wilton) for this one and it didn't taste any different.
