Hello everyone,
I have been asked to make a cake for a boy's birthday party in October? This will be my first paid cake!! However, the Mom has requested a 1/4 sheet or 1/2 sheet. Enough cake to serve 20 people. What pan do I need for either of these? Also, a jungle theme has been requested, any ideas? What should I charge? I am so lost!! Please help! Thank you all!
If the cake is to be filled, I would go ahead and use a 9x13 pan. This will be enough to feed 20 easily. If it is just a single layer of cake and frosting I might consider the 11x15 pan. I am drawing a blank about the jungle theme and as far as price, I find that my prices are somewhat different that the average on here. I charge a base fee of $38 for a filled 9x13 cake and then add on for additional decorations.
Hi vetty!
I would do a 9x13. Are they sending out invitations for the party, if so you might ask for an invitation and go from that. I did this with a cake that is in my photos. It is named Animals. I would charge around $30.
I use a 9x13 for my 1/4 sheet and 11x15 for 1/2 sheet. If you are planning on doing a filling...then do the 9x13. If not I would use the 11x15. I charge 35.00 for my 11x15. I think I would do an edible image of a jungle picture. If the customer has an invitation...you could use that as a reference. I think using monkeys, elephants, and lions would be fun. If you are good at molding...you could mold your animals out of fondant. Good luck!
