I was recently invited in to my son's class (of toddlers) to show them what I do for a living. I plan on bringing in 2 dozen undecorated cupcakes. Any ideas of things/techniques I could use that would be appropriate for this audience?
For my grandsons birthday we dressed them up with aprons and my chef hats, made individual disposable pastry bags fitted with large round tips. I showed them how to make a basic swirl on the cupcakes and let them have a go at it on their own cupcakes. We had an assortment of toppings to finish them off. Everyone got to take one home in an individual container, it was a lot of fun!
That's a great idea. I think I'll get a few piping bags (one for each table) with large tips. I was wondering if cutting out shapes from fondant would be too much for them.....any thoughts?
Whenever I've given fondant for my kids to cut shapes from it doesn't work because they handle it too much, lol. I think swirls are good (and fun!) Then I think for that age group, lots of sprinkles, RI flowers, sugar pearls etc.
