AA coworker has asked me to make her daughter's wedding cake (my first). She wants to serve 200! It's really a very simple design. She thinks three tiers instead of two. Price this cake the way you price all your cakes. Total up ingredients and supplies, add all the costs incurred in running a business, and be realistic about your time.
It depends, for a profit, for a plain cake to serve 200, between $500-$600.
If just ingredients/supplies only, about $250.
Just did a cake for 200 (and am pretty much a hobby baker who charges for her cakes), that's how I charged for the cake.
With a 16", 12", 9" and 6" you still wouldn't quite reach 200 servings. Do you plan on doing 3 tiers and kitchen cakes?
Is she providing the topper or are you making an edible one? By the time you figure in stacking materials, consumables, your time, etc $600 seems awfully low for $200 servings. Although I do see plenty of areas where BC wedding cakes start at $3/serving.
You really need to charge what you feel comfortable with.
