AHi! I am getting some fake sunflowers for my cake from hobby lobby and I wanted to know if it is safe to put it directly into the cake, or if it still needs floral tape or something around the bottom to stick in the cake? Thanks!

AWhen I make Gumpaste flowers I'll wrap the wires in floral tape but I still use a straw (or something) so it doesn't come into contact with the cake. I've actually never used fake flowers or really looked at them but I imagine they're on some kind of wire right? I wouldn't stick a wire into cake.

AThat's a good idea, ill put some stems into straws! Have to much on my plate this week with my sons 3rd bday party, so I'm just doing fake flowers to save me some time!
