We've been using Dawn's Decorice Fondant for about 3 years now. Seems they've been restructuring and changed the recipe on us...(I emailed them and that's what they told us)

Have you noticed the same as us?

They even changed the description from Decorice 'White Sugar Paste' to Decorice 'Ready to Roll Icing Fondant'

Old code was 00842121 new one is 01311688

AI haven't used it in a while. It was just a little too soft for me. How is it different?

Are you kidding me right now?! Dawn sells a house brand fondant? I buy most of my supplies from dawn and not once has my sales person mentioned the stuff to me. Wth?  I've noticed satin ice has gotten softer over the last few years, for what that's worth.

Lol, I just called them and they said in my town, satin ice has an exclusive contract with them.

Across all industries it's standard operating procedure for companies to "tinker" with their formulas. Unfortunately, they don't share this info with consumers. So a product we have used successfully for years may not work the same after their R&D got hold of it.

I specifically asked my Dawn rep and she said they didn't offer it.  Of course, she probably didn't know what I was talking about.

@Kathyw, It's different in the way that we used to roll out the fondant, pick it up with our hands and lay it on the cake... Now if we do that, our fingers _nearly_ go through the fondant.

@HowSweet, not certain what you mean exactly by a House Brand fondant... ours has to be special ordered from our wholesaler, it can't be found in any stores. (NB, Canada). We wanted to try the Satin Ice but we WERE content with Dawns product at the time and getting the Satin ice meant us paying extra for the shipping of this heavy item! Prices were comparable I guess but with the added shipping cost it didn't make sense.

@MiMiFix, By tinker you mean find a way to make it cheaper and charge more... I get it ;)

@Leah_S, our wholesaler sent us 3 different brands of vegetable oil so far... one would think they would just send the same SKU/Item that we last ordered instead of getting anything off the shelf!

I hope I can get this resolved. My babies asleep now so I'll call the rep to get more details... keep replying!

**Update,

Just talked to my local rep and he said that their were 1 or 2 other mentions or complaints about the product consistency and that he would ask the other territory reps if they also heard the same but will also bring it up to the manufacturer. Positive comments at least instead of ~"ya ok". We've talked to him last year and did resolve something for us so we're confident he'll follow through.

We're going to try the Satin Ice, our supplier can only get 2 lb colors or 20 lb White and Ivory.
