Ok so I was on freecycle and someone wanted to know about a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy cake and where she could get one. I told her I may be able to help her.. she want to know what I would charge.

I was going to do a 10in round with red icing/mmf that says "don't panic" with a sports ball "Marvin" head - simple white icing and 2 small triangle eyes. what would you charge? seems simple enough and I was going to bake this weekend anyway.. HELP! I was thinking about $25-$35.. This would be my first cake that is paid for by someone other than my boss for sheetcakes everymonth.
TIA
LL

I would probably charge $25-30 just for the 10" round if it's a 2 layer.
I'd probably charge a minimum of $45 for what you want to do, even if it's a single 10" layer on bottom.

That "I was going to bake anyway" argument shouldn't have anything to do with how much you charge. It will take you just as long whether you were going to make another cake or not. It it was me, it would probably take me even longer with my crummy time management skills. icon_smile.gif

Don't sell yourself short - this cake is worth more than a sheet cake.

btw-how did it come up on freecycle? in austin they won't let services on the message board.

Ali
