AHi girls I have this really lovely chocolate cake that I used for my wedding cake and someone has asked me to do it for theirs but a smaller one can I use the same amount of ingredients and just put it in a smaller tin so I get a higher cake or just make another small cake just for me to eat :-) will it turn out just as nice by doing this and would I have to adjust the temp on my oven?
Exactly as you said. You didn't mention sizes, but you can cut your recipe in half, or 3/4, etc, make a smaller but deeper cake (adjust the baking time, lower the temperature, and consider a heat core if really deep) or make a second cake/cupcakes. I double and halve recipes all the time. There have been a few recipes I have tried over the years that didn't double well, so I found better recipes that did. Allow time to experiment.
