Hubby is getting out of the army and he's in the infantry as a stryker gunner and I thought it would be cool to create something like that, any good ideas?

Can you draw a stryker?  Get an image on line and enlarge it to the size you want.  Maybe you could draw it on the cake.  If you're not confident with that, maybe you could mold a little tank.  ... it's a tank, right?   Or if it's just a small family cake, frost it in tan buttercream and use some kind of tool to make the tire marks across the cake as though the tank just drove across it.  Add some graham cracker crumbs or brownulated sugar to make it look like sand.

ANo, a Stryker is not a tank, my dad works for general dynamics and teaches people how to teach others to operate them, and fix them, he is a civilian after 22 years in the military. My uncle drives them, too. Tanks are tracked vehicles, while strykers have 8 wheels.

The main tips I would give you would be to make some sort of platform for it to sit on, so it has an opening under it, and make the nose part out of rice crispies. Definitely make the gun out out gum paste, a head of time. You can print of pictures to scale, and use them as templates to carve it, as well! Please post pictures!
