I'm pretty sure that just about everyone has seen the "Jabba the Cupcake" picture.  I have a friend whose son's birthday is coming up and is a Star Wars fanatic.  I would like to try these for his birthday present, but I'm not quite sure as to the best technique to get "the look".  I'm guessing that the body is squishy-piped buttercream and the hands and eyes are fondant.

Any ideas or has anyone seen a tutorial?  Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

The one I saw said it was made using fondant icing. Not rolled fondant like we use to cover cakes, but the kind used for covering petit fours. I've never used it, but from what I understand, it's very good for sculpting.

I think you may be able to get a similar result piping it using a very wide round tip. If you don't have one, try not putting a tip on your coupler. If you pipe it, let the frosting set until a little stiff, then you may be able to sculpt it and add the hands made from fondant.

I'm sure he would love them, I know my Star Wars lovin' boys would be thrilled to have Jabba cupcakes! :)
