hi there newbie here needing help!!!

i am after a good cake recipe that would be able to withstand stacking.

say i am making a sugarpaste covered 3 tier cake but each cake is 3 layers filled with jam and buttercream like what they do on cake boss!

i would like something light but still strong enough to carry weight!

i have tried various different recipes but not found one i really like so would like someone to share their favourite recipe that they think works for my needs if possible!

thanks

Cakes do not hold up the weight of other cakes, your internal structure does (plates and dowels of one sort or another).  You should be able to use any recipe you already like to make a tiered cake with the proper support.

koryAK i was actually wondering that!

i thought if i could make a nice light fluffy victoria sponge cake but use about 3 to 4 layers per cake filled using a jam and buttercream filling, with dowels and boards etc then its should work but i know alot of people use the maderia so was assuming that because maderia is more dense and victoria is more soft it wouldn't work.

k8memphis thanks for that i will give it a go!

i just want a nice cake! with the recipes i have used i have never found one that i really like! so i am going to try both!!

thanks
