Another question (hurdle, procrastination excuse, whatever) -- The grad had been searching for this flower that she "loved" but could not find. It was lime green with black polka dots. Since she couldn't find them, I'm doing them in fondant (as you well know if you dare read my posts icon_wink.gif) I was thinking about doing them (and these are just the simple cut out flowers) in lime green layered with a royal blue for contrast - because I like how that would look.

But then I started thinking again. I could make up little black balls of fondant and press them onto the rolled out lime fondant, roll a bit more to flatten - and then cut out. So she'd have sort of what she had wanted, although I'm sure they wouldn't look exactly like what she was in search of (I hadn't seen them)

Or is this crazy to make myself make all these little balls? And would lime and black look too halloween-ish? What would you do? Lime & blue? Or lime w/ black polka dots?

I love the contrast of the lime and blue better. You could do a royal blue or a navy blue would look cool as well.

Thank you. All I needed was a nudge in a direction, and I like that one better anyway. *sigh*

You're welcome! I had a friend who had blue and lime green as her wedding colors and it was beautiful. icon_smile.gif

I am loving the lime green and royal or navy blue! I'm edging toward royal.... Or navy! No, royal! Definitely royal icon_wink.gif

I tried a little ball of navy and a little ball of royal - and it was definitely the royal! The navy did not look "teenager" at all! So the flowers are all made and drying quite nicely now! I will be layering two flowers with a little button of fondant in the center. Looks so fun with the figure! I decided to do a fondant stripe around the top of the cake too - a sort of frame. It looked so awesome on Sharon Z's dvd. icon_smile.gif

Late last night I was going to begin baking - and realized that I need sour cream for this recipe. Dh left early this morning to run to the store for me thumbs_up.gif so now I have it and will need to bake 3 today - and the temps will be about 104 here today. icon_cry.gif
