I have someone who wants me to make them a sheet cake with a specific set of cartoon characters scanned from an image and printed onto a frosting sheet. Roger that, no problem. THEN she threw this into the mix: she wants it to look like the characters' heads are in 3d--as if they were coming out of the cake into our world!

I can "3d" it but how do I keep from distorting the frosting sheet's image when I go to place it over the characters? She has insisted it be that specific image!

Thanks so much! icon_biggrin.gif

I'm not sure if I am understanding the 3D effect that you mean, but if you printed two (or more) copies of the character and then cut out the head/face, put it on a piece if fondant cut to the same and then put that on top of the 1st face? It is a technique used with paper to give 3D effects.
