I am doing a wedding cake and need to serve 225 - 235 guests, if I do a 16" 14" 12" cake with a 6" topper for bride/groom to take home, do you think it will look awful and not symmetrical? I am using real flowers on top and then a flower or two on the side of every tier. Am afraid I might not have enough room for the flowers on the 1" side of the tiers??? Any thoughts or help if you have done this before??? Do you think the 6" top will look ok on the 12" since the other tiers are all so close in size???
Thanks for your help

If it's all stacked, that's quite a size difference between the top two tiers that would obviously stand out, but if you use a spacer or separate with pillars the angle of gradual height would be more visually appealing.
If this isn't an option the bride wants to consider, you could make a 6/8/10/12/14 and have an additional 9x13 double-layer quarter sheet kitchen cake to serve.

You will. The ledge size shouldn't matter because they won't fall off especially if the flowers are inserted into picks that are within the cake. You should be fine.
THANKS for the information, I won't worry about the flowers but may have to re-think how to do the top, I am really concerned with the size difference....
I did one that was for around 200 servings but it was 3 tiers plus 2 satellite cakes on the side.
This is a link to my photo gallery picture of it.
