Can I Freeze Cake Batter

The answer is probably no, but I only need half of a cake mix, I'd rather freeze the batter than make the other half of the cake due to storage issues, thoughts?????

Yep you can freeze cake batter.

You can freeze cake batter no problem and yes it will rise like fresh batter does no worries.

Cake mixes and most scratch bakers use double acting baking powder. What this means is that the baking powder is 1st activated when liquid is added, with a 2nd activation when heat is applied (during baking).

As a result, cake batter can sit without losing its ability to rise properly; it can also be refrigerated and/or frozen without losing its ability to rise properly when baked.

I didn't see the big deal with freezing cake batter but my mother did and still argued with my note to freeze half the batter! LOL
