I'm still brand new to all of this and was wondering about the Wilton sugar sheets:
Is this what's used in the cricut machines?
Do you have to use the cutting inserts or punch sets or can you just use cookie cutters and/or scissors?
How do they taste? Or do you not really taste them since they're usually on fondant or frosting?
What do you think of them otherwise?
Any tips? What's best to use them for or NOT to use them for?
Can you paint/draw on them?

I've seen some cakes on here that have used them and it looks like they're mostly used well for FLAT fine details. Do people use them for bigger pieces?

I was thinking of using it for my next project: I'm making a scooby doo mystery machine cake and am thinking it might be good to use the sugar sheets for the design details on the van - any thoughts/suggestions?
I was also thinking about doing a background where it looks like there's a haunted house on top of a hill at a distance, so just a small hill with a house sillhouette. I was wondering if a sugar sheet might be helpful here, even if just for the house - thoughts?

Thank you for any advice!

Okay, so I found some answers to a few of my questions, but I'd still like to hear any opinions on these sugar sheets from those of you who have used and tasted them and any tips you'd care to share. Pretty please? Does anyone know if these work well with modeling chocolate too? Like I said, I'm brand new to cake decorating so sugar sheets are brand new to me too.

Thank you!

Wilton sugar sheets:

http://www.wilton.com/store/site/department.cfm?dc=22.1

http://search.wilton.com/?q=sugar+sheets

There's info on frosting sheets (not Wilton brand) in the IcingImages forum.

And lots of Cricut posts in the Cake Decorating forum.

I do not know if I will be too much help now. But I used it on all the damask design on this cake. They did taste OK to me so I do not know. The cake was also chilled and the design did not smear icon_smile.gif
