I have been asked to make a cake for my uncle's 80th birthday. They want a cake that looks like a house because he was a contractor most of his life. I will have to transport this cake to a place that's over an hour away and it will need to be quite large, so I'm not inclined to something that is very tall. Any photo's or ideas?

A bungalow with a garden, swimming pool, barbecue...
Or a small city with the streets in the form of 80.

Can you do a smaller house cake, the dollhouse style (cut a square layer into four triangles, sandwich and set vertically on top of another square or rectangle layer) and serve alongside, or on top of, a sheet cake decorated to look like a set of building plans?

Or just do the house 2D. Like an elevation drawing. You could even decorate it so that it looks like it's still in the process of being built, maybe...like one end has the siding on while the other still has the framing exposed...
