What is the best and easiest way to add custard or any filling really to cupcakes. Ive seen a lot of cream cheese fillings that you can add before you bake the cupcakes, but with custard I have to fill them after I bake them? What is the best way to do this? Please help!! Im new to this stuff.
You could use an Apple corer or sharp knife to remove part of the cake and either spoon or pipe in the filling. Replace the removed piece it cake.
Wilton has a tip, I think called a bismarc, for that. It comes in the cupcake kit and it works really well.
I use the wilton tip mentioned by MrsJM3. that way the hole left isn't that big. then pipe on some frosting
Mrsjm3, a girlfriend recently gave me a little cupcake toy. It is a plunger that she got at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. you take a portion out of the center and put your filling in. then cut the portion you took out to only 1/4" tall and put the plug back in. It works really great and I don't think it is very expensive. I used it once and I love it. I know that there are filling tubes out there like the bismarc tube, but I used that and you can't really tell how much fillling you are getting in there. Well at least I couldn't. I like the litttle plunger toy because I have total control of how much filling is in there and put the plug back in and you really can't tell it is filled. plus when you ice it no one else will know until they bite into it. at least as far as looks go. this also works with the jumbo cupcakes as well as the regular size. It has markings on it and tells you how far to go for each size. It is a purplish color.
I love the cupcake corer from Williams-Sonoma. It is only $5, and it is just the right size - the hole it makes is not as big as the one from Bed, Bath and Beyond. It even has a little cap on it that keeps you from going all the way to the bottom of the cupcake, and it has a plunger to help push out the piece that you took out.

The easiest way is to use a large open star tip. Plunge the piping bag into the top of the cupcake up to the connector ring. Squeeze and pull up at the same time. You can fill a doz cupcakes in 10 seconds. Srsly.
I like to cut out some from the center also, instead of the #230 bismarck tip. You can put more filling in the cupcake that way. Plugging it , is no problem. Plug it and add your frosting. I just use a little paring knife . It goes really fast that way. hth

leah, a question for you. I am sure that this is maybe a texting language you are using and I am learning some of it on here, but what is srsly?
Thanks gingoodies, I appreciate that. I don't do texting and at this point in time I don't intend to start, but I see it so much everywhere that I guess in someways I am going to have to learn it eventually. I miss the old way of writing though. Full words and full sentences. LOL!!
