Hey I was wonder how most people travel with there cake. I'm doing a mickey mouse cake in a few weeks & I have to travel an hour in half away. So i was hoping for some very good Suggestions Thanks everyone!
I travel quite a bit....I do not travel with my cakes stacked. I always put in stablizer straws when traveling. I even put them in a sheet cake sometimes. That depends on how far it's traveling and who is driving. Rubbermaid rubber shelf liners are great for lining the back of my vehicle, it looks clean and it keeps the cakes from moving around. Keep the air on in warm weather.
The one thing you don't have much control over is the road. I have been on some terrible bumpy roads.....ugh. Just take a deep breath and go slowly. Bumps are the worse. Good luck, just use common sense when driving, keep them cool and stop at a Starbucks when you are done! lol
Thank You I will definite have me some Starbucks!! We dont have one close to were we live so when we go out of town we always find a Starbucks!!
All good advice, but I would also add start with a very cold cake. It's denser and can handle road bumps and swerves better. By the time you get to your destination it will have come to room temp...or at least gotten to the point where it's not as cold. If it's going to be on display for several hours that's a plus.
