I am doing a wedding cake with sugar paste daisies and am wondering if any one has any suggestions on how to wire the daisies.

You will need to make the centers of the daisies first and put the wires in them. Allow them to dry at least 24-48 hrs.
Once dry you can cut out the petals and after thinning and shaping the petals you push the wire with the center attached down thru the center of the cutout petals and attach the center to the petals with a bit of gum glue. You will need more than one layer of petals so just repeat the process of putting the wire down the middle of the next set of petals and attaching with gum glue.
When you have all of the petals on, you can run the wire down thru the middle of a flower former, or an egg crate to give it a slightly cupped shape. If you want a really cupped, almost closed look, hang the flower upside down.

I did some Gerber daisies a few weeks ago.

I made the center's in a mold, took a wire, made a hook, then turned that hook to the side. As Ruth Ricky said in a class this weekend, at this point the wire looks like a golf club. Take the hook section and hold to a flame until it is very, very hot. At this point press it into your center, being careful not to press it deep enough to ruin the mold. You are just going halfway in.

Give it a second or two, then pull it up. The hot wire causes the sugar to melt and when it cools it will attach it's self well to the hook. No need to let it dry over night.

Make your petals, put a dab of gum glue in the center, then pull your wire through the middle to attach the center to the petals. Dry in a rounded flower former.
