Rebecca Taylor, director of operation at RBI Cakes in New York, has started an (almost) daily blog about her job at the bakery and her observations about the cake world:
http://nyccakegirl.wordpress.com/
Recent posting were about applying butter cream, clients' relationships, and design inspiration.
Rebecca also facilitates Ron's official Facebook fan-page. You can find hundred of photos divided to galleries, and comments about projects and ideas:

Even though the staff can't answer questions through those social-media venues, we hope you'll enjoy your visit!

Do you work at RBI Cakes???? If you do I am INSANELY jealous!!! I would cut off both my legs to work there lol (was going to say my arms, but I'd surely need them to work lol).
Anyway I suppose Rebecca's blog is about as close as I'll ever get to working with my hero.
I even priced up studying at the FCI, but moving from Scotland to NYC (although totally amazing) to live there for 6 months with no job and no money and THEN having to pay $40k would be just a tad out of my budget - just by pennies mind you
