I think I have and idea on how to make this cake. 3d Cakes are not normally what I do and i'm curious as to how you would make this cake and support it. The cake is to feed 30 guest.

My guess is to use a 10" round serving 38 (iced to 5" tall) and a 10"x5" round dummy. I'm not quite sure if the real cake goes on top or bottom. I want to say the dummy cake is on top as to ice it into the real cake on the bottom (Icing fills in the top ledge of the cake. Entire thing is then covered in fondant.). The dummy also has holes carved into the top to insert the bottles and secure in place. Ice is placed around bottles. A ruffled strip of dried and pleated like (?) gumpaste is wrapped around the top edge. The handle is inserted into the styrofoam instead of the cake for support. Is this how it supposed to be done? Should mark discretely where the two meet so that the client knows where to cut around the barrel and remove top top half?
