Hi All!

I am creating a topsy turvy Sweet Sixteen cake with a "1" and "6" made of gumpaste for the top. I know I need to form them on some type of stake to keep them from falling over but unsure how to do the "6" as the number has no straight form...

Any suggestions??

TIA.

I would put two "stakes" on the six. In the past I put one to the far left and one to the far right. That should allow you to put on the cake and balance it well. Depending on the size of the numbers you can use something as small as a toothpick, wires or wooden skewers.

Hope this help!

Had same issue with the "9" on m flip-flop 3-tiered cake. I used a popsicle stick. I stuck the number in right before chilling the cake, so it chilled nice and hard stuck inside.
With the little 3 in the Dora cake, I used two toothpicks, the longer-gourmet type ones.
Stuck them in while the GP was still soft and let it dry that way. It took about 6 days to dry the "9" on a flat, strainer/screen, left out in the open air in a cooler room (not the fridge.)

HTH!

I made a sweet 16 with standing gumpast numbers. I used the white lollipop sticks (the heavy duty ones). I allowed the numbers to set for a couple days before. If I remember correctly, I used a little white chocolate to make sure they stayed tight on the sticks. HTH
